Bayona, where the reports of an alleged 260 million dollar budget came from. However, before we go further: shortly after this information began making circulation, <a href=\"http://www.slashfilm.com/jurassic-world-2-budget/\">Slashfilm updated their article</a> saying that a contact with Universal denied the report. Slashfilms source states that the budget has yet to be set, and they are still in the stages of pre-production where the factors that play into those decisions are evolving. They go on to say that it is unlikely the final budget will be anywhere close to that large of a number.</p>\n<p>While this conflicts with the publications report, it&#8217;s incredibly unlikely that XL Semanal meant to misreport. In all likelihood, they were given that number as a ballpark estimate from their own sources and snuck it into a question for possible confirmation. When they bring up the budget, Bayona deflects the question stating that he hasn&#8217;t mentioned a 200million + budget to them prior, and certainly does not confirm the figure. Personally, I think 260million skews too high &#8211; though I wouldn&#8217;t be surprised to see a number like 200~225 million when it&#8217;s all said and done.</p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that movie budgets are constantly in flux in the stages of early development. Reports stated that Jurassic World initially targeted a 185million budget, before being slashed down to 100~120 (citing the film Oblivion&#8217;s budget as a target). However, shortly after the budget talks were in flux, the movie was delayed to further develop the story, and the production happily landed on a healthy 150million dollar budget.</p>\n<p><a href=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/inside-the-making-of-the-apatosaurus-from-jurassic-world.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2056\" src=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/inside-the-making-of-the-apatosaurus-from-jurassic-world.jpg\" alt=\"inside-the-making-of-the-apatosaurus-from-jurassic-world\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/09/inside-the-making-of-the-apatosaurus-from-jurassic-world.jpg 1400w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/09/inside-the-making-of-the-apatosaurus-from-jurassic-world-300x169.jpg 300w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/09/inside-the-making-of-the-apatosaurus-from-jurassic-world-768x432.jpg 768w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/09/inside-the-making-of-the-apatosaurus-from-jurassic-world-1024x576.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" /></a></p>\n<p>On the subject of money, there seems to be an ongoing commentary online that hopes a budget boost will equal more practical effects. Ultimately, while not always true, practical effects are usually not more expensive than CGI. What practical effects usually cost is something more vital, and most productions are short on: <em>time</em>. To create a practical puppet or animatronic of a Dinosaur, the design has to be locked in well in advance to produce the effect needed. Further, what the puppet needs to achieve on camera needs to be decided in advance, and planned. With CG, these things can more easily be changed on the spot and in post if needed, which is what most producers are comfortable with. Animatronics are a risk worth taking, but often times it&#8217;s hard to sell that fact to those in charge of spending the money.. the flexibility and safety net CG allows is very attractive.</p>\n<p><a href=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Ur2ov2k.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2058\" src=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Ur2ov2k.jpg\" alt=\"ur2ov2k\" width=\"1920\" height=\"981\" srcset=\"https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/09/Ur2ov2k.jpg 1400w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/09/Ur2ov2k-300x153.jpg 300w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/09/Ur2ov2k-768x392.jpg 768w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/09/Ur2ov2k-1024x523.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" /></a><br />\nLast I&#8217;ve heard, the dinosaurs designs are still early for the upcoming sequel, and have yet to be finalized. While I wouldn&#8217;t be surprised to see at least one practical creature, I unfortunately doubt we will see much more than the Apatosaurus animatronic from Jurassic World. However, a budget boost could still lead to better VFX and the tools to realize them, even when still utilizing heavier use of CG. CGI is an amazing artistic tool that movies often put to great use, but I do feel there was room for improvement with many of the Jurassic World dinosaurs.</p>\n<p>No matter what the budget is for Jurassic World 2 is, it&#8217;s safe to say it will be afforded more than its predecessor. But it&#8217;s important to remember, a higher budget doesn&#8217;t always mean a better movie (nor does it mean worse). I&#8217;m personally hoping that a budget boost doesn&#8217;t mean more VFX shots, simply even better looking ones.. and perhaps the ability to film in unique locations!</p>\n<p><a href=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/MattelMeeting.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2060\" src=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/MattelMeeting.jpg\" alt=\"mattelmeeting\" width=\"1080\" height=\"593\" /></a></p>\n<p>So while this latest news cycle is a bit of &#8216;no news&#8217;, it has opened up an interesting dialog online. The whole ‘Jurassic World’ is a trilogy that Colin Trevorrow has envisioned. We’re writing the second chapter, and it’s very interesting where he’s leading the story. I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it’s a question of being truthful to the legacy and at the same time, bringing new stuff that people will appreciate. We are still six months ahead of shooting, and so far, so good. It’s very exciting right now.”</div>\n</blockquote>\n<div>\n<p>While diehard fans will not find the news of this being part of a trilogy too surprising, this is one of the more blunt confirmations of this fact. Personally, I&#8217;m reassured that he mentions being truthful to the legacy of the franchise, while also expanding into new territory. The Jurassic Park films were never meant to be mindless monster flicks, and it&#8217;s something fans have worried the inclusion of militarized dinosaurs or hybrids would lead to.</p>\n<p>We&#8217;re six months out from the start of production (under the working title of Ancient Futures), and it&#8217;s likely news such as casting should begin to roll in this Fall. This is a brand new sculpt, and was first shown off at Toy Fair 2016. Measuring 22 inches long, she is actually about 2 inches larger than the 2015 &#8216;Bad Boy&#8217; Indominus Rex. She features articulated legs, left arm lever activated &#8216;Chomping Jaws&#8217; &amp; &#8216;Fang Reveal&#8217;,  button activated &#8216;Spike Reveal&#8217;, and a free to move articulated right arm. Plus, she&#8217;s electronic and features numerous different roaring sounds! What&#8217;s not to love?</p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1838\" src=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/HRIbanner.png\" alt=\"HRIbanner\" width=\"5179\" height=\"1870\" srcset=\"https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/HRIbanner.png 1400w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/HRIbanner-300x108.png 300w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/HRIbanner-768x277.png 768w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/HRIbanner-1024x370.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 5179px) 100vw, 5179px\" /></p>\n<p>The first thing that stands out about this toy to me is its clean, crisp white coloration. While it has a tendency to wash out in photos a bit, it really pops and looks fantastic on the toy. The color scheme shines with the addition of the clearly defined reddish orange striping patterns running the length of her head and body, applied with a mildly metallic sheen. Her underbelly, hands, and feet are painted with an incredibly metallic gold paint &#8211; it looks really good in my opinion, but could have used better blending work. The orbital and fenstra sockets are filled with a dark, brownish purple paint which gives her face a sinister and skull like appearance. The eyes are nicely detailed, conveying a mean look, and featuring four different colors. The inside of the mouth is painted a solid, flat dark purple, and the teeth a cream color &#8211; sadly the claws are unpainted.</p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1842\" src=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/OpenMouthCLose.jpg\" alt=\"OpenMouthCLose\" width=\"5184\" height=\"3456\" srcset=\"https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/OpenMouthCLose.jpg 1400w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/OpenMouthCLose-300x200.jpg 300w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/OpenMouthCLose-768x512.jpg 768w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/OpenMouthCLose-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 5184px) 100vw, 5184px\" /></p>\n<p>The detail work on the sculpt is really great, and captures the Indominus Rex fantastically &#8211; albeit with larger, more stylized spikes. The teeth, claws, scutes, spikes and other finer details are all shaped very nicely, while still lending themselves to safe play. The skin detail feels very hand crafted, with each scale and scute inter-playing with the muscle and skeletal structure &#8211; something most Jurassic World toys were severely lacking. Unfortunately, the right flank of the toy features six visible screw holes, however these are far less offensive than those seen in prior releases. The biggest issue with the sculpt is the feet. While they look great, they are not proportioned for the weight of the toy, leading to major balance issues (surely to frustrate both kids and collectors).</p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1843\" src=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Screw-Holes.jpg\" alt=\"Screw Holes\" width=\"5184\" height=\"3456\" srcset=\"https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Screw-Holes.jpg 1400w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Screw-Holes-300x200.jpg 300w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Screw-Holes-768x512.jpg 768w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Screw-Holes-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 5184px) 100vw, 5184px\" /></p>\n<p>The toy is made out of hard plastic which is fairly lightweight. It doesn&#8217;t feel as cheap as generic toys offered by competitors, though its lightness does feel quite strange for a Jurassic Park toy and gives a sense of added fragility. The sound quality sits at a nice middle ground, neither too loud nor too quiet. The sounds can accidentally activate in play, as the jaw hinge is loose and can open and close from momentum rather easily. Otherwise, the sounds are activated by the spike reveal button on her left flank, and the &#8216;chomping jaw&#8217; activation via her left arm.</p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1844\" src=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/SpikeReveal.gif\" alt=\"SpikeReveal\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" /></p>\n<p>The spike reveal works rather nicely &#8211; one firm push of the button, and they pop out and stay in place. Another push, and they recede back into the neutral pose. The chomping mechanism is a lot of fun &#8211; when it works. It has a tendency to get stuck, and not complete its activation without further nudging of the arm. Ideally, the arm is pulled back, and upon release it resets and activates a randomized amount of chomping motions (up to 14), plus different roars. It&#8217;s quite cool when it works, but I worry that so many reports of it being faulty straight out of the package may lead to complete brokenness via casual play.</p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1846\" src=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Rawr.jpg\" alt=\"Rawr\" width=\"5184\" height=\"3456\" srcset=\"https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Rawr.jpg 1400w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Rawr-300x200.jpg 300w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Rawr-768x512.jpg 768w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Rawr-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 5184px) 100vw, 5184px\" /></p>\n<p>The toy sizes nicely compared to the rest of the Jurassic World lineup, and Jurassic Park toys of the past. This toy has notably more size to it (helped by better proportions) than other large offerings from the 2015 range, and is quite eye catching. Not only is it longer that the previous large Indominus Rex, it stands taller at the hips, and is wider overall. Its head and arms are lightly smaller, and legs slightly larger, but all look more natural. Honestly, this is the perfect sized toy.</p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1850\" src=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Bad-Girls.jpg\" alt=\"Bad Girls\" width=\"4813\" height=\"2845\" srcset=\"https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Bad-Girls.jpg 1400w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Bad-Girls-300x177.jpg 300w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Bad-Girls-768x454.jpg 768w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/Bad-Girls-1024x605.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 4813px) 100vw, 4813px\" /></p>\n<p>Overall, this is easily my favorite toy from the Jurassic World lineup, and is the first that looks at home next to past Jurassic Park items. I really dig the sculpt, colors, play features and sounds &#8211; but am certainly bummed by the quality control issues on the chomping mechanism, plus item balance. For a collector it&#8217;s frustrating, but for a parent it&#8217;s a nightmare and for a child, a letdown. However, overall this toy skews positive in my eyes &#8211; and it&#8217;s important not to forget that target audience:</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" style=\"background: #FFF; border: 0; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: 0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width: 658px; padding: 0; width: calc(100% - 2px);\" data-instgrm-version=\"7\">\n<div style=\"padding: 8px;\">\n<div style=\"background: #F8F8F8; line-height: 0; margin-top: 40px; padding: 50.0% 0; text-align: center; width: 100%;\"></div>\n<p style=\"color: #c9c8cd; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17px; margin-bottom: 0; margin-top: 8px; overflow: hidden; padding: 8px 0 7px; text-align: center; text-overflow: ellipsis; white-space: nowrap;\"><a style=\"color: #c9c8cd; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 17px; text-decoration: none;\" href=\"https://www.instagram.com/p/BJnxJ52B9ug/\" target=\"_blank\">A video posted by Cortney Abouelseoud (@cabouelseoud)</a> on <time style=\"font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 17px;\" datetime=\"2016-08-27T17:58:42+00:00\">Aug 27, 2016 at 10:58am PDT</time></p>\n</div>\n</blockquote>\n<p><script async defer src=\"//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js\"></script></p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>(Used with permission)</em></p>\n<p>If that adorable video doesn&#8217;t prove this toy is a must buy, I don&#8217;t know what will. Should future releases have the chomping gimmick fixed, and feature better balance it&#8217;s a near perfect toy. Hopefully the QA issues are short lived, as this overall is something special (in fact, it also may be the last big Dinosaur from Hasbro as Mattel is taking ownership in late 2017). If those issues did not exist, I would note the room for improvement in the gold paint blending, and perhaps continuation of the red stripes to the tail.</p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1848\" src=\"http://jurassicoutpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/CompareHumans.jpg\" alt=\"CompareHumans\" width=\"5184\" height=\"3456\" srcset=\"https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/CompareHumans.jpg 1400w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/CompareHumans-300x200.jpg 300w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/CompareHumans-768x512.jpg 768w, https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/app/uploads/2016/08/CompareHumans-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 5184px) 100vw, 5184px\" /></p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">6~8 / 10</h1>\n<p><strong><em>(Based upon variable balance &amp; chomping activation experiences)</em></strong> &#8211; <em>Recommended for collectors and parents/kids, but we wary of bad balance and faulty chomping features!
