This could easily be mistaken for the new ‘Harry Potter’ ride, but demolition and construction are already well underway at the site of the former ‘Dragon Challenge’ attraction, which was listed as Project 942. The new permit is listed as Project 741, a distinctly older number. Sources inside the park have hinted that area to be cleared is the former Triceratops Encounter/Discovery Trail, which closed in 2005, but was temporarily reopened in 2011 and 12 as an overflow attraction during the debut of ‘The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’. The size of the area certainly matches to that reported in the permit.
\n
This is not the first time that Universal has filed for permits to modify the Jurassic Park area, though disappointingly those turned out to only be small changes; Carnival style booths in part of the River Adventure’s extended queue, and the Raptor Encounter in the exit to the Triceratops Encounter. Given the scale of the area, is certainly looks as though Universal is finally pushing forward with a new attraction, especially given that the former attraction has previously sat dormant for over 15 years.
\n

\n
At this time we can only speculate what the new attraction will be. Whispers from insiders are hinting at a coaster, perhaps in the style of Japan’s ‘Flying Dinosaur’ though at this early stage all bets are off. Prior to the park’s opening, attractions known as ‘Jeep safari’ and ‘Helicoptours’ were planned for the Jurassic Park area though were eventually written off due to budget constraints. The patches of land reserved for these attractions have since been filled by other IPs but perhaps one of them could have a resurgence on this new plot.
\n
Demolition is set to begin on June 1st with a reported cost of $300,000. Keep your eyes peeled for more info then!
\n","excerpt":"
You might be forgiven if you forgot that Universal has a theme park in Orlando, especially with the announcement of a re-theme in their Hollywood Park, a parade debut in Japan and rumours of a Jurassic World section in Beijing. But the largest and most complete Jurassic Park ride has resided at Universal’s Islands of Adventure […]
\n","link":"https://controlroom.jurassicoutpost.com/rumour-orlando-to-break-ground-on-new-jurassic-park-ride/","modified":"2018-05-23T00:25:18","featuredImage":{"node":{"localFile":{"childImageSharp":{"gatsbyImageData":{"layout":"constrained","backgroundColor":"#f8f8f8","images":{"fallback":{"src":"/static/400c66519c7ef1b3ea49cc982af9862a/b22dd/IOA.png","srcSet":"/static/400c66519c7ef1b3ea49cc982af9862a/b8537/IOA.png 350w,\n/static/400c66519c7ef1b3ea49cc982af9862a/39bab/IOA.png 700w,\n/static/400c66519c7ef1b3ea49cc982af9862a/b22dd/IOA.png 1400w","sizes":"(min-width: 1400px) 1400px, 100vw"},"sources":[{"srcSet":"/static/400c66519c7ef1b3ea49cc982af9862a/aaee1/IOA.webp 350w,\n/static/400c66519c7ef1b3ea49cc982af9862a/54039/IOA.webp 700w,\n/static/400c66519c7ef1b3ea49cc982af9862a/194da/IOA.webp 1400w","type":"image/webp","sizes":"(min-width: 1400px) 1400px, 100vw"}]},"width":1984,"height":776.5942857142857}}}}},"categories":{"nodes":[{"count":659,"description":null,"name":"News","slug":"news"},{"count":29,"description":null,"name":"Rumor","slug":"rumor"},{"count":51,"description":null,"name":"Theme Parks","slug":"theme-parks"},{"count":34,"description":null,"name":"Uncategorised","slug":"uncategorised"}]},"author":{"node":{"name":"Alex Evans","url":null,"customAvatar":{"childImageSharp":{"gatsbyImageData":{"layout":"fixed","backgroundColor":"#d8e8e8","images":{"fallback":{"src":"/static/e1a6aa6eaf26283a98d58c54381bab54/2f28c/2020_about_alex.jpg","srcSet":"/static/e1a6aa6eaf26283a98d58c54381bab54/2f28c/2020_about_alex.jpg 40w,\n/static/e1a6aa6eaf26283a98d58c54381bab54/499f6/2020_about_alex.jpg 80w","sizes":"40px"},"sources":[{"srcSet":"/static/e1a6aa6eaf26283a98d58c54381bab54/e73fe/2020_about_alex.webp 40w,\n/static/e1a6aa6eaf26283a98d58c54381bab54/61ca6/2020_about_alex.webp 80w","type":"image/webp","sizes":"40px"}]},"width":40,"height":40}}}}}},{"databaseId":7543,"id":"cG9zdDo3NTQz","title":"Owen and Claire try to pass off Blue as a service animal in Comedy Sketch","date":"2018-05-16T22:30:55","slug":"owen-and-claire-try-to-pass-off-blue-as-a-service-animal-in-comedy-sketch","content":"
The website CollegeHumor has released a new comedy sketch featuring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as their Jurassic World characters Owen Grady and Claire Dearing. The procession features a Parasaurolophus, as well as an infant Brachiosaurus and Triceratops being handled by Jurassic World employees.
\n
In one exciting moment, three Velociraptors escape from their enclosure and run along the street, before being corralled by one man dressed as Owen and others dressed in Asset Containment Unit uniforms. Samples of Michael Giacchino’s music from the Jurassic World Soundtrack can be heard as the floats and Jurassic employees march down the parade path.
\n
The dinosaurs used in this event seem extremely well constructed. The T-Rex alone has nearly full motion in its head, torso, and tail. Its extremely tall body towers over the gathered spectators and lets out some classic Jurassic roars as its glowing red eyes scan the area around it. The Velociraptors and Parasaurolophus are costumed employees, but still look pretty natural amidst the chaos unfolding around them. Sadly, it seems the latter is missing when it comes to Jurassic World.
\n
Hitting a day before the new trailer, the Jurassic World social media accounts shared a explosive new Fallen Kingdom poster with the grim new tagline “The Park is Gone” (though with how small the ‘Fallen Kingdom’ on the logo is, it almost looks like that is the title of the film).
\n
That aside, let’s talk about the composition of the new poster:
\n

\n
The concept of this poster is very solid, and everything including the colors and backdrop are really well done. The Tyrannosaurus looks approriately fearsome, the logo placed strategically with the volcanic explosion. The colors are warm and inviting, but certainly allude to danger (strangely the poster removes the teal color grade from the film many complained about) – that is all aesthetically pleasing.
\n
But then you look to the bottom left, and it all falls apart. The characters are so poorly composited into the shot, you’d be forgiven to think it was a internet meme, placing them in locations they don’t belong. They do not blend with the environment, and the photoshop is clear as day – further, why can you not see what’s behind the glass of the Gyrosphere? Speaking of the Gyrosphere, it’s missing its bottom part, which was to be filled in by CG in the movie, and the glass just blends into the ground.
\n
Also, the eyelines of the characters – where are they even looking? This might seem like nitpicking, but all of these are graphic design staples, and they standout tenfold due to the obvious cut and paste comp.
\n
Of course, it’s not a first for Jurassic – don’t forget the new Blu-ray covers revealed a few months back:
\n

\n
As with the poster, these could have been great, but needed more thought put into the assets used plus better composition.
\n
For a palette cleanse, we’ll leave you with a few fan posters which get the job done:
\n

\n
\n
Designed this seconds after watching the AMAZING trailer for #FallenKingdom – so excited for this movie. 25 years of loving this franchise and counting. #JurassicWorld #JurassicWorldFallenKingdom #JurassicPark pic.twitter.com/SDXeCgYeqF
\n
— Neemz (@NimaNeemz) December 8, 2017

\n

\n

\n
\n
Here's my alternative poster for @JurassicWorld #JurassicWorld #JurassicWorldFallenKingdom #JurassicPark #ChrisPratt #movieposter #fanart #filmposter #photoshop #GraphicDesign pic.twitter.com/QsypEAyIUy
\n
— Sorin Ilie (@sorin_ilie_) March 19, 2018

\n

\n

\n

\n
\n
#JurassicWorldFallenKingdom Poster #6 – Something has survived.
