Velociraptor (Film Universe)
There are three distinct variations of Velociraptor which were cloned by InGen, not counting sexual dimorphism seen within each individual version. However, despite the surface level variations, each sub-species remains relatively similiar in terms of physical attributes. Each species is roughly 6 feet tall…

Battle at Big Rock is here, and since it’s come out I’ve had it on repeat trying to pour over every detail. To help truly appreciate the visuals, I frame-by-framed the Jurassic World short film, and grabbed the best screenshots I could of the brand new dinosaur designs. Admittedly, YouTube compression is atrocious, and this has led to sub-quality images – but until an official ProRes or 4K release is made available, this will have to do.

Haven’t watched ‘Battle at Big Rock’ yet? Well what are you waiting for!

‘Big Rock’ was written by Emily Carmichael and directed by Colin Trevorrow, with Larry Fong as the cinematographer. The short follows an all new cast consisting of André Holland (Moonlight), Natalie Martinez (Under the Dome), Melody Hurd (Fatherhood) and Pierson Salvador. Music is by Jurassic newcomer Amie Doherty.

Set in the Californian wilderness, a family of four encounter more than they bargained for as dinosaurs turn their fun into a situation of survival. Check out the HD images below, where the brand new adult Allosaurus made its debut, plus the female, male, and baby Nasutoceratops designs were unveiled.

  1. That was… mediocre… rehashed and the 8 year old girl using the the crossbow on the allosaurus was the most ridiculous how she stood there thug style… awful.

    1. Not any less believable than 90% of what happens during action scenes in the Jurassic Universe.. and she looked more in shock to me, but okay.

  2. Aw, you don’t have the shot of the Allo roaring at the couple with the fire in the background? Man, that was my favorite shot. In fact, that’s one of my favorite shots in the whole Jurassic franchise!

  3. I wonder why they didn’t upload 4K video on YouTube. Like, what the hell, it’s 2019!

I only hope it will be available real quick in Fallen Kingdom’s Blu-ray and BD-4K newest prints.

  4. I like it. I really do. There was NOTHING silly that even the original film didn’t have. And no, the crossbow was not as silly as Kelly gymnastikicking a Raptor out a window. Of course, I don’t want them to continue the trend of silly scenes, OR plots revolving around marriages (seriously, why is everyone divorced??)

After sitting back and having a proper think about it, yeah, I actually really like it.

If this is what Emily Carmichael can do, then maybe we’ll finally have a female writer that doesn’t botch a story (though no female writer can botch anything as bad as Anne Rice!).

  5. Well, I thought it was fantastic and better than anything done in JW:FK.

How long have Jurassic fans been waiting for an adult Allosaurus to appear, and in one short film has a fight with a family of herbivores and rips apart a trailer.

And please stop giving Emily Carmichael credit for things she has nothing to do with. She is a token addition to the marquee for JW3. You know full well Colin already wrote the thing 5 years ago. She gets to come on board, mess around with a few details, and get all the “look what a female writer can do” fake credit. I despise such fraudulent insult to the creative process.
