There are three distinct variations of Velociraptor which were cloned by InGen, not counting sexual dimorphism seen within each individual version. However, despite the surface level variations, each sub-species remains relatively similiar in terms of physical attributes. Each species is roughly 6 feet tall…

Jurassic World Evolution ‘Raptor Squad’ DLC Coming Tomorrow!

If you’re dying for some new Jurassic World Evolution content prior to the December 10th ‘Return to Jurassic Park’ DLC, Frontier has you covered. Coming tomorrow, a new DLC pack will be available for purchase at $1.99 adding the Jurassic World ‘Raptor Squad’ – Blue, Charlie, Delta, and Echo!

Become the Alpha with the brand new Jurassic World Evolution: Raptor Squad Skin Collection, the complete skin set of the original Jurassic World Velociraptors! With this pack you’ll gain access to new, unlockable genes which will allow you to incubate Velociraptors with these fantastic new skins.

The Jurassic World Evolution: Raptor Squad Skin Collection is coming 26 November on Steam, Xbox One and Playstation for £1.49/€1.99/$1.99 (prices may vary depending on your region and platform).

The iconic pack of Velociraptors have been long requested since the launch of the game, with fans eager to add the squad to their park since before release. This perhaps is a point worth mentioning – this pack only adds new skins for existing dinosaurs, which felt missing from the core release, and probably should be free. With so much paid DLC already released for the game, and even more on its way, this feels like a bit of a grift instead of a gift. But I digress.

The skins themselves are fantastic, clearly built directly from ILM’s files, and offer the best look at these fan favorite dinosaurs since the 2015 film. As a huge fan of Delta myself, I cannot wait to see her up close, in all her glory.

Will you be purchasing the DLC pack, or would you rather wait to see if this release is ever given for free or bundled with larger DLC packs? Sound off in the comments below, and as always, stay tuned for the latest news!

  1. These also appear to use either the reworked JP velociraptor models instead of the regular JW raptors, or a third mesh that’s slightly different from both. Also, shouldn’t one of these have a round pupil?

    1. They definitely are NOT using the JP model. Look at the mouth. It’s a straight mess. The JP Raptors have the wicked smile-like curve. JW sucks.

  2. I’ll at least be waiting for a steep discount on Steam, if not ignoring it altogether by the time the supposed sequel to JWE is released

        1. Read the time stamp. The Jurassic Park article came out before this one, and so definitely, before you opened your big mouth. But please, do go on XD

  3. Why would they want this and not flying animals? Don’t get me wrong guys it’s cool for squad dlc colors. Good idea yes. So far we been getting the same thing land animals. I’d rather see the flying ones or more dinosaurs. Because why have them in the movies and not have them?

  4. While I like the fact that they listened to the community and added these highly requested skins I feel like they should be ashamed of themselves for charging us 2$ for this. Sure it’s just 2$ but these skins easily could’ve/should’ve been in the game at launch, especially as a good portion of the in-game-content right now comes from paid DLC packs.

      1. I have a great life. These comments take 2 minutes out of my morning. And not even every day 🙂 I bet you spend more time wasting your life on things like Facebook and Twitter.

    1. Yeah man, kids these days! When I was a kid, Raptors smile like this. What the heck Wu, can’t you make Raptors smile like they used to?
2nd rate raptors… not being the same as when I was a kid.
I hate these new kids out today too. They don’t smile right and they arent as mean as they used to be?!

      So excited for Echo.

  5. So thats why they dont let mods!

Basically they took others and mine, negative reviews on Steam, took 2 years of nothing, and then made them paid DLCs.

Frontier, I will never be buying anything from you never again. You are just barelly on the level of the gouy who made the Orion crap games. Thats like the same level of a bike thief.

    1. I understand your frustration over it. Modding is the backbone of PC gaming. Many games have been given infinite life due to the modding community and they should never be regulated. However, Frontier is still selling a product at this time. I don’t blame them for providing this skin pack to supplement their work on the new DLC. But then, they’re giving me classic Raptor models, replacing the terrible JW design, so I am actually over the moon right now.

The modded classic skins that the community created were still held back by the inferior JW models for the Raptors. At least with this new DLC, that issue is corrected.

So yeah, I support the modding community 100%, but I understand that modders will be overridden while a product is still making the original developers money.

I do think once a game has earned all it can for the devs, that the modders should be allowed to manipulate it as they please, unrestricted.

  6. Has anyone ever considered that the Big One in JP was perhaps completely misunderstood?

It is entirely possible the reason she killed 5 of her fellows was because the remaining two she spared had become males (which is a key plot point in the film), and she wanted exclusive breeding rights as the alpha female. It is also entirely possible that the nest Grant finds in the Raptor’s old paddock was actually hers and that her behaviour throughout the film was simply the result of her both trying to get back to her eggs and defending them from any threats. After all, Birds are incredibly defensive of their nests and will persistently attack creatures even many times their own size in the process of defending their young, even within a wide area of the actual nest.

      1. There was talk that the Big One had transitioned to male, but I think the above makes far more sense.

It’s like Lions, but the gender roles are reversed. Abd yeah, this fits better with what JP3 revealed about Raptors too. One alpha female ruling the roost, killing all other females and having exclusive access to the males.

    1. My only issue with this theory- and I admit it’s a good one- is that we’re never told which dinosaurs are breeding in the first movie. We know raptors are breeding in the book but we got a headcount of ALL the beasts roaming the island thanks to Mr Arnold- however the movie just kinda drops us the ‘yeah they’re breeding’ and leave it at that. Sure we see itty bitty footprints but they’re honestly not that well done so we can’t tell which species they are.
Granted yes it would make sense that she was defending her nest. However unless we get a full explanation I will just consider it a theory and not canon.

      1. Fair, but it’s been basically confirmed, at least among the fandom, that those eggs and prints were from Raptors. The reason the egg shape differs from what we see in the lab earlier in the film is because those were re-purposed Ostrich eggs, while those in the wild were from the Raptors themselves.
The two-toed prints can only belong to Velociraptors. Raptors are the only Dinosaurs in the films that hold up one of their toes.
Yeah, the movie kinda glossed over some of the novels big plot points. The purpose of the breeding in the film is just to show that Malcolm was right and even without Nedry’s sabotage, Jurassic Park would have failed anyway. At least, that version of it. Hammond rushed the Hell out of it all.

        1. Honestly those footprint were so poorly done I can’t really tell what they’re supposed to be. If anyone rushed it it’s the writers not Hammond, they had time to add a one minute or so scene confirming this but instead chose to kill off Mr Arnold. It would have added to the intelligence of the movie but instead just gave us another Jurassic Park loose end/plot hole.
