There are three distinct variations of Velociraptor which were cloned by InGen, not counting sexual dimorphism seen within each individual version. Official One Pager Suggests Jake Johnson Reprising Role in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom!

UPDATE: Universal Pictures replied to our inquiry, stating that Jake Johnson’s inclusion was a “typo” and have revised the document to remove him. While there is enough ambiguity in their reply to allow room for his return, I’m not personally holding my breath. However, it was recently pointed out that he was also included as part of the cast in the Jurassic World Evolution press release from Frontier Developments in August.

It sounds like Jake Johnson will be sitting Fallen Kingdom out, but I suppose this mystery won’t be truly solved until June 2018. Original article below:

Cutting straight to the chase – this is odd. Earlier today, Universal Pictures uploaded a new “One Pager” to press asset website EPK.TV. This document, embedded below, contains the same information released when Fallen Kingdom’s title and poster were released – with one caveat. The document has Jake Johnson listed as a cast member.

Jake Johnson of course played the fan favorite control room technician, Lowery, who had an affinity for collectibles and sarcasm. There is a part of me who wants to see Lowery return, though that is mostly driven by my liking of Jake Johnson in almost every role he has played. The other part of me is worried it may feel too forced – I’m a fan of letting new characters thrive in sequels, while not getting bogged down with writing every fan favorite back in.

Of course, as stated prior, this whole thing is odd. Prior to this press release, which technically contains nothing new other than Jake Johnson’s inclusion, we have heard nothing about his involvement with the film. It is very possible his inclusion is an error on Universal’s part, and Jake Johnson has not returned in Fallen Kingdom. Conversely, if true, this is perhaps the strangest way to ‘announce’ his involvement – normally more fanfare is included, or at the very least, a trade like Variety or The Hollywood Reporter breaks the news.

Stay tuned – we’re going to dig into this and find out definitively if Jake Johnson has returned in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. Perhaps he simply has a small cameo role, like many returning cast members in the Jurassic Park sequels had.

  1. Could be for the rumored court scene. Perhaps a witness? After all, he saw almost everything that caused the sh*t to hit the fan.

  2. I hate to say it, but I think this was an error. Jake Johnson is a returning character, they wouldn’t wait until 2 months after filming wrapped to announce his invovlement when the majority of the rest of the cast was revealed quite some time ago. If he had any part in the film, they would have announced his return along with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, and they definetly would have announced it before they announced Jeff Goldblum’s return.

Either its a mistake altogether, or Johnson was in a scene that got deleted/cut early on

    1. The other option was it was meant to be secret, and they inadvertently gave it away with this document. I’m veering towards him not being involved… but you never know. This is more than the usual mistake.

Also, Johnny Depp being involved with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them wasn’t known until about 2 weeks before the film came out IIRC. If Jake Johnson is in, it’s got to be a small cameo role meant as fan service.

      1. I think this qualifies as one of those ‘Occam’s Razor’ scenarios and would bet my bottom dollar, Paul Kirby style, that he’s not involved.

Of all the things they might go out of their way to keep under wraps in regards to the movie, I have trouble thinking that Jake Johnson’s inclusion (of all people) is one of them. I know he’s a fan favorite, but there’s no version of this where it makes sense for them to cast him, keep it under wraps, slip up on a press release, and then intentionally lie about it – especially considering the comparatively massive news of Goldblum’s involvement was announced months ago. This isn’t Sam Neill we’re talking about here, after all.

      2. Lowery was a minor character in the 4th movie with no other ties to the series, if he was in Fallen Kingdom it would have been announced around the same time they confirmed Chris and Bryce were returning.

Also, after doing some digging, Johnson has said in multiple interviews that he has no involvement with the new film.

  3. I really do hope he returns, Fallen Kingdom may not fit his character with this movie being dark and terrifying but none the less if he is making a come back in some shape or form i’m all the more excited for next year!

  4. Are there any hints of Omar Sy, Ty Simpins or Nick Robinson returning for their cameos?
As far as I recall Ty had contract for 3 films.

    1. Everyone involved with Jurassic World probably signed a 3 film contract, that doesn’t necessarily all of them are going to be in all 3 movies, it is so that they can get the actors back for the sequels if they need them.

  5. I have to admit, I was kind of hoping it was true but I knew it wasn’t :-/ I’m just surprised at how many people on the JP reddit page were rabbidly foaming at the mouth when people tried to point out that his name appearing on the one-page was a mistake lol. Despite the fact that he was filming another movie in a different part of the world during Fallen Kingdom’s whole production lol
