Velociraptor (Film Universe)
There are three distinct variations of Velociraptor which were cloned by InGen, not counting sexual dimorphism seen within each individual version. However, despite the surface level variations, each sub-species remains relatively similiar in terms of physical attributes. Each species is roughly 6 feet tall…

First Look: A Baryonx Stares Down Members of the Dinosaur Protection Group in new Fallen Kingdom Screenshot!

The teases keep on coming in this Jurassic-filled week! Entertainment Weekly have exclusively revealed a new screenshot from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, showing a dinosaur never before seen in the franchise staring down Bryce Dallas Howard and Justice Smith’s characters!

The location appears to be a maintenance room and judging from the previous teases this week, the Baryonyx appears to enter the room via a dark tunnel. Many have speculated that this could be one of the geothermal stations situated on Isla Nublar.

Along with this screenshot reveal, EW gaves us more insight into the plot of the movie and the characters that front it.

“Claire’s founded an organization, Dinosaur Protection Group, and they’re finding a way to get these dinosaurs off the island. She reaches out to Owen Grady to let him know this is happening. When you see them at the beginning of this story, you get caught up as to what’s going on, but it’s not what you would necessarily expect.”

The article also adds Daniella Pineda and Justice Smith’s characters to the Dinosaur Protection Group and quotes director J.A. Bayona discussing the return of Jeff Goldlbum’s character:

“I had to overcome the impact of being in front of Ian Malcolm. After so many years, Jeff Goldblum was in front of a camera again talking about dinosaurs!”

But the teases don’t stop there! The official Jurassic World account shared this photo of Baby Blue with Owen, which was seen a week ago in the very first footage that was released for Fallen Kingdom. Now we have a full body look at “Baby Blue” and can see more about their location – which appears to be a nursery.

Universal Pictures were kind enough to send us another screenshot of the above scene which shows off slightly more of Blue – her baby sickle claws:

Our very own Asees breaks down all of the above in a new video – check it out below!

With lots to pour over already this week, Universal Pictures are really making noise about the upcoming trailer release this Thursday. A new sketch was released by Vine star Zach King and stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt:

Stay tuned to Jurassic Outpost as we approach the full trailer release this coming Thursday!

  1. I can’t wait for Thursday I think that Universal Studios want to break the youtube record of the fastest and most viewed video like the Avenger: Infinity war trailer.

  2. I can’t wait.It sounds pretty good but I don’t think it will live up to the true legacy of “Jurassic Park”. Though we will have to wait and see!

  3. Tbh I was hoping that would be our first look at the Indoraptor, and that this took place in the tunnels from Jurassic Park: The Game. Maybe they changed it to get hype for the Baryonx??

  4. I’m SOOOOOO glad that they’re FINALLY including Baryonyx in a Jurassic film! It’s one of my most favorite dinosaurs, besides Arkansaurus, Acrocanthosaurus and Velociraptor! 🙂

    1. So am I!

Little bit of trivia: Baryonyx was originally going to be the antagonist of Jurassic Park III before the swapped it for the Spinosaurus. It’s so cool that it’s finally getting a staring role in a movie!

  5. This must surely be the last island set Jurassic Park movie presuming Isla Nublar gets destroyed in Fallen Kingdom – unless they set Jurassic World 3 on Isla Sorna.

  6. It was about time we got the Baryonyx in the franchise. Ever since I saw it on the original JP map I wanted to see it on screen.. finally!

    1. Jurassic World seems to be a soft reboot that effectively ignores the events of the The Lost World and JP3 and acts as a direct sequel to the original movie.

      1. That’s not true at all. Not sure why people are assuming this.

The Masarini site and JW site have many references to the previous films.

In fact Hoskins cleaned up the Pteranodons on Isla Sorna

And another Easter egg revealed information on the Spinosauraus from JPIII

  7. Hmm. Despite the Baryonyx taking all the attention in this shot – kinda hard to ignore the people standing inches away from liquid hot lava pouring all around them, unphased. :-/

  8. I know for a fact that there’s going to be more than one teen who sees that floppy disc and goes, “WTF is that?” XD

Baby Blue looks adorable. I know she’s the most popular of Owen’s babies, but it would be nice to see the other three as hatchlings.

As for the cat…they’re ten times worse than a velociraptor. Maybe twenty or thirrty times.

    1. Seeing Charlie, Delta and Echo as babies would be amazing! Especially because we currently don’t know if they’re alive or not.

  9. Would have been nice to make the JP version of Baryonyx a pure fish-eater. That way we could have a carnivore that wasn’t interested in eating Humans for once. Kinda tired of everything being considered a monster these days. What happened to animals just being animals?

    1. The 6-seconds-long clip with Blue with Owen was a puppet/aniamtronic according to Chris Pratt. In the pictures we see now Blue may be CGI, because all her body is presented and it’s would have been difficult to make animatronic for this shot, but who knows 😉

  10. Wow. That’s bad. I knew Jurassic Park was bad at paleontological accuracy, but that Baryonyx looks nothing like it should. I mean I don’t want to bitch, because I’m looking very much forward to the movie, but every time a new dinosaur is introduced that looks totally wrong, I shed a tear.

The original animal looks so much more interesting with its longer snout and crocodilian appearance.

  11. I don’t care about real life accuracy, but that Baryonyx doesn’t really look like a Jurassic Park dinosaur.

I can’t put my finger on it, but I’m not a fan. It looks like a Kaiju dino that King Kong would fight.
